Stand up, Stand up for Jesus free mountain dulcimer tabllature 1-3-5 arrangement available from www.mountaindulcimer-1-3-5.co...

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus

Words: George Duffield (1818-1888)

Music: George J. Webb (1803-1887)

Arrangement: Ruth Randle

The title and lyrics for this old hymn were inspired by the dying words of Reverend Dudley Tyng to his close friend, George Duffield as Tyng lay bleeding from a mortal injury. In a later sermon, Duffield preached from the text of Eph: 6:14, adding the verses of words he had written, and which became the lyrics of the hymn we know as Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus.  Music written in 1830 for an earlier hymn, by George J. Webb, was adopted in 1888.

This beautiful, well-known hymn does not require a 1-3-5 tuning for its chromatic scale, but there are some lovely chords available in this tuning, and the fingering flows easily and smoothly from one chord to another.
